Introducing YABAI NEWS
It’s been awhile since I blogged here. And even though I’ve fallen behind when it comes to blogging here, I’m not exactly behind with what’s going on with my favorite J-Pop boy groups. However, there’s way too many things going on with all the groups that I decided to create a brand-new category series that will indicate some of the latest news regarding my favorite groups and (probably) other boy groups as well. But for the sake of introduction, I’ll stick to my favorite groups for the time being. If this is the first time you’ve visited this blog, or if you’re brand-new to Japanese pop culture/J-Pop culture and don’t know what the word yabai means, the explanation can be found on the J-POP Terminology section.
The YABAI NEWS entries will consist of news of upcoming releases, occasional TV/radio appearances, and even some commentary/opinion from me regarding some topics involving J-Pop artists in general.1 There will also be some news/updates regarding this site too.

MADKID
- The LINE MUSIC streaming campaign for GOLD MEDAL for 1st Place until June 28th.
- SHIN is featured in the AUGUST 2021 edition of JUNON Magazine. He is the second member after YUKI to be featured in a popular magazine by himself.
- On July 19th, the upcoming live event, Future Notes Fes, will be held. More information at a later time.
OWV
- OWV SUMMER LIVE 2021 will be held on August 1st at the Fuchu Forest Art Theater, Tokyo Dream Hall and on August 22nd at the Osaka Namba Hatch. It will be OWV’s first live event with an actual live audience since their debut.
JO1
- Appearance on KCON:TACT SUMMER 2021 from June 20-26. Unlike the Winter 2021 Edition, JO1 broadcasted their segments in Japan due to Japan’s pandemic state of emergency.
INI
- It’s late, but congratulations to the Top 11 winners of PRODUCE 101 JAPAN SEASON 2 and the formation of their new group, INI.
- Projected debut date for INI is in November 2021. Partial reason is for Lapone to obtain a working Visa for INI’s only non-Japanese member, Xu Fengfan.
- On June 23rd (JST), JO1 stopped by to meet their new kouhai group, INI, and have taken a photo together.
YABAI COMMENTARY
My job has been very demanding, and therefore I haven’t really had the time to be active on social media, but I tried all I can to keep up with the latest news and updates regarding my favorite boy groups and (sometimes) J-Pop in general. Of course, sometimes I see all the unnecessary ruckus going on in my Twitter timeline as well. I like a lot of groups, and it’s likely that number will eventually grow. It eventually grew again when INI made its formation when PDJP S2 ended early this June.
Fans have the right to support and not support certain artists and groups. Fans also have the right to get angry on some members of said groups for the things they’ve done wrong. But personally for me, anger and being (indirectly) insulted should not warrant their excuse for their bullying and canceling others who may see things differently. Just because some people see different things, that doesn’t make them “offenders.” Those who felt “victimized” aren’t exactly innocent either.
I call this section the Yabai Commentary because whatever will be written here can go in either ways or both ways. After all, even the slang term of yabai can mean either or. You may agree or disagree. I may agree or disagree. You may or may not like what I write in here. Hence, this is the Yabai Commentary.
The past issues that went on social media regarding groups, members, and trainees mentioned are all brought out there, so whatever it is that I said regarding these past issues will remain over there. I don’t like repeating things that may be either redundant or harmful to me personally, as well as to others too.
